Who we are

What we collect, and why
- Page view records. When you open a specification page, the site records which model was viewed, your IP address, a one-way hash made from your IP address, browser details and the date, and whether the visit looks automated. We use this only to show which pages are trending and to filter out bots and abuse.
- Server logs. Like most websites, our web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, page requested, browser type and time) for security and troubleshooting.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used, such as which pages are read and for how long. Google Analytics uses cookies or similar identifiers and reports usage to us in aggregate.
- Advertising. The site is funded by Google AdSense advertising, described below.
- Email. If you email us, we keep your message and address so we can reply and fix any problem you report. We do not add you to any mailing list.
The site has no user accounts, comments or sign-up forms, and we do not ask you for your name or other personal details.
Advertising and cookies
Google and other third-party vendors use cookies and similar technologies to show and measure ads on this site. These cookies allow Google and its partners to show ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet, and to measure how ads perform.
You can control this. You can turn off personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings, learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, or opt out of many third-party vendors at aboutads.info. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. Blocking cookies may change which ads you see, but the site still works.
Sharing
We do not sell your data. Information is shared only with the service providers named above (Google, for analytics and advertising) and where the law requires it. Google may process data in countries other than your own.
How long we keep data
Page view records and server logs are kept only for as long as they are useful for the purposes above. Emails are kept for as long as needed to deal with your message.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under South Africa's POPIA, the GDPR and UK GDPR, or California privacy law), you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to certain uses. Email info@specs-sa.com and we will respond. Because page view records are tied to an IP address, please include the approximate date and the page you visited so we can find them.
Children
This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Some pages link to other websites. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
Changes to this policy
